The turn-in date for the magazine fundraiser is next Tuesday, October 6th. Just 2 orders will get you in the “Extreme Games.” Extreme games could be making a sandwich with no hands, enter a pie eating contest or compete in a sack race! Sell 4 orders and you are in the V.I.P. selection and you will get free food and soda. 8 orders lands you in the money booth and prize walk and with 15 orders you can play Wii games (including Guitar Hero) on the big screen. Keep selling your magazines!

The Rock-Tober dance will be next Thursday from 2:20 to 4:30. You will receive your dance permission slips during 7th period on Monday. You will not be allowed to purchase tickets if you have any fines or overdue library books, or if you get an office referral (including bus write-ups) the week of the dance. Clean-up Contracts for the Rock-Tober dance will be available from Mrs. Diel starting on Monday. The first ten students who pick up a cleanup contract will earn a free pass to Thursday’s dance. Without 10 cleanup contracts, decorations for the dance will not be put up. See Mrs. Diel before or after school in room 211.
On Wednesday, the Spartan Cross Country team competed in their second race. Spartans having great races were Rebecca, Nate, Chase and Winston. Also winning their races were Sophie and Miler. Congratulations to all of you!
Your Stanwood Chronicles: Local Native American tribes from Stanwood and Camano Island were first observed by Captain Vancouver and Lieutenant Whidbey as they explored the Puget Sound in 1792 aboard the HMS Discovery and Chatham.

Lunch today is nachos, bean burritos, chicken burgers, double corn dogs, salad and pizza.
Our magazine fundraiser will be over soon. Sell at least 2 orders to get into the “Extreme Games” and 4 orders to get into the V.I.P. area.
Natural Helpers-Mr. Zeigen will see you in Mr. Wayland’s class tomorrow at the beginning of 1st lunch.
Only one more week until the big Rock-tober dance! Tickets are on sale next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday before school and during your lunch. Come hungry for pizza and soda. Gift cards will be given away so hope to see you there!
The JV soccer team tied Mt. Baker last night with a score of 4-4. Goals were scored by Kaelyn, Kelsey, Callaway and Kali. The varsity recorded another win for the season with a score of 2-0. Sierra and Lauren scored the Spartan goals while Jordyn reorded anouther shut out. Nice job Spartans!
The Stanwood team remains unbeaten with a 38-0 win over Totem Thunderbirds. The team scored on their first three possessions. Offensive player of the game was Ian with 4 touchdowns. Touchdowns were also scored by Alex and Corey. Foster added 2 points with an extra point kick. Defensive player of the game was Foster with numerous tackles. A home game next week against Cavelero of Lake Stevens. Great job team.
Your Stanwood Chronicles: Native Americans, part of the group known as Coast Salish, were the first inhabitants of Stanwood and Camano Island. Other local tribes including the Stillaguamish and Snohomish, came to the area to fish, hunt and harvest berries.

HIV/AIDS PARENT PREVIEW NIGHT |

There will be a meeting provided by the Stanwood-Camano School District
for parents to preview the HIV/AIDS prevention education program for
grades 5-12. The curriculum and materials will be displayed and
reviewed on October 13, 2009 at the Stanwood Middle School Library.
Following a preview of the materials, parents who wish to have their child excused from participation in the HIV/AIDS prevention program may sign a release form, which is available at your child’s school. State law provides that a parent or guardian must attend such a meeting before they can have their child or legal ward excused from participation in the HIV prevention program.
5th grade: 6-6:45 pm
6-8th grade: 6:45-7:30 pm
9th-12th grade: 7:30-8:15 pm
